The newly-named Campbell River Golf and Country is set to open in 2018 with exciting plans!
In early 2017, local businessman and developer Kris Mailman and his family purchased the previously-named Sequoia Springs Golf Course and decided to do a complete overhaul.
The plan is to create a resort-type atmosphere and increase tourism in Campbell River with the likes of a brand new 18 hole championship golf course designed by Graham Cooke and his Northern Golf Design team, the addition of a state-of-the-art driving range and practice area, a new pro shop that will include a simulator room and underground cart storage, a full rejuvenation of the existing clubhouse that will see an expanded restaurant and 300 person banquet room. Plans also include a hotel and spa so guests can stay on site.
The construction team broke ground on the golf course in May 2017 and with a lot of hard work the front 9 and driving range were completed and growing by mid-October. Work on the back 9 is near completion and will be seeded in the new year. Opening date has not yet been set, as we eagerly await what this winter will bring weather-wise!
The golf course will play as a par 70 at just over 6100 yards from the championship tee deck. With undulating fairways, brand-new bent-grass greens, 6 new man-made water features and plenty of wildlife, the course will appeal to all golfers.
Known as the Salmon Capital of the World, the addition of the Campbell River Golf and Country Club will add another option for people looking for an outdoor adventure destination. Biking, hiking, skiing, fishing and wildlife tours are just a few of the amenities that golfers can add to their experience to make a most memorable trip! And with Mount Washington Ski Resort only a 45 minute drive away, Campbell River is one of the only places in Canada where you can ski and golf in the same day!
