Detailed Golf Course Information
The Royal Gems Golf City
- Dream Arena - 18 holes par 71 (6689 yards)
- (Augusta comes to Bangkok at Asia's first & only replica course)
- Designer: Ron Garl
- Established: 2011
- Location: North of Bangkok near Alpine Golf Club
The RG (Royal Gems) Golf City - Dream Arena is Asia's first replica course and combines nine of the best holes in the world with the back nine of Augusta National. Course designers have created the required extreme challenges and elevation changes from what was previously flattish farmland just outside Bangkok. Stepping onto the first can transport you, not just to holes you've never played, but to holes you wish you could.
Nikanti Golf Club
- 18 holes par 72 (6789 yards)
- (all-inclusive course & one of Thailand's best)
- Designer: Pirapon Namatra, Golf East
- Established: 2014
- Location: West of Bangkok
Nikanti Golf Club is a unique 18-hole track situated in Nakhon Pathom province, west Bangkok. The work of Thai golf course designer and architect Piraporn Namatra of Golf East, Nikanti, is revolutionary in more ways than one. Nikanti sits in the fresh air among former rice paddies.
Pineapple Valley Golf Club Hua Hin
- 18 holes par 72 (7361 yards)
- (2009 Best New Course in Asia: scenic & well-maintained)
- Designer: Golf East (Pirapon Namatra)
- Established: 2008
- Location: 5 kilometres south of Hua Hin
Built among a former pineapple plantation, Pineapple Valley Golf Club in Hua Hin opened in October 2008. Immediately following, the course was awarded 2009 Best New Course in Asia-Pacific by the readers of Asian Golf Monthly. Since then Pineapple Valley Golf Club, clubhouse, and staff have consistently claimed 'Top 3 in Asia' awards and have been featured in the 'Rolex Top 1000' in the World.
Black Mountain Golf Club
- 27 holes par 72/36 (7343/3621 yards)
- (one of the 100 best golf courses in the world)
- Designer: Phil Ryan
- Established: 2007
- Location: 10 kilometres west of Hua Hin
Black Mountain was transformed from lush jungle and pineapple plantations and located around 25 minutes west of Hua Hin. Set in a valley surrounded by huge black granite rock-covered mountains, the Hua Hin golf course was the site for Asian PGA tour events in 2009 and 2010 and the Europe versus Asia match play Royal Trophy in 2011. In 2012 and each year since Black Mountain was selected as one of the 100 best golf courses outside the USA by Golf Digest magazine.
Alpine Golf Resort Chiang Mai
- 27 holes par 72 (7541/3652 yards)
- (host of 2013-14 Chiangmai Golf Classic)
- Designer: Ron Garl, Golf East
- Established: 2008
- Location: off route 1147 near Lamphun
The Alpine Golf Resort Chiang Mai comprises some 450 rai of land nestles in a valley between the mountain ranges in the heart of the San Kamphaeng natural forests. It is undoubtedly one of the best golf courses in Chiang Mai. Alpine hosted the Asian Tour 2013 and 2014 Chiang Mai Classic and was put on the professional circuit and further recognized for its world-class layout.
Chiang Mai Highlands Golf and Spa Resort
- 27 holes par 72/36 (7003/3601 yards)
- (variety of holes and great golf, Chiang Mai's best course!!)
- Designer: Lee Schmidt, Schmidt Curley Design
- Established: 2005
- Location: East of Chiang Mai near Sankampheng
The Chiang Mai Highlands Golf Club opened in 2005 and significantly added to the quality of Chiang Mai golf courses. The drive to Highlands from Chiang Mai leads through the stunning landscape, in an eastern direction passing rice fields and plantations into the mountains. The Chiang Mai Highlands golf course is built on a 'power spot' - the hermitage of Kuba Sivichai (the revered monk who founded the famous Doi Suthep temple).
Blue Canyon Country Club, Canyon Course
- 18 holes par 72 (7179 yards)
- (site of Tiger Woods' 1998 Asian victory and host of 2007 Johnnie Walker)
- Designer: Yoshikazu Kato
- Established: 1991
- Location: At the north end of Phuket, near the Phuket Airport
Blue Canyon Country Club's Canyon Course was the original 18 hole layout and leaped to fame when selected as the venue for the 1994 Johnnie Walker Classic. Since then the same tournament has returned two times with Tiger Woods winning in 1998. Blue Canyon recognized as a world championship golf course continually ranks as one of Thailand's best golf courses.
Red Mountain Golf Club
- 18 holes par 72 (6905 yards)
- (Phuket's most exciting course; dramatic scenery and great golf)
- Designer: Johnathan Morrow
- Established: 2007
- Location: Center of Phuket Island
It's not difficult to see why this Phuket golf course was named Red Mountain. It is harder, however, to imagine how such a dramatically undulating landscape, where soft red rock and dense jungle were the principal ingredients, could be transformed into a challenging, yet playable layout. Red Mountain Golf Course opened in 2007 and is now considered Phuket's most spectacular golf course.
